Anytime we have gone out to eat for my birthday I've always ordered either chocolate molten cake or chocolate soufflé. I've made chocolate molten cake but never tried to bake a soufflé. It seems so intimidating, especially since most places ask you to order in advance because it needs the right amount of time to prepare before baking!
With my birthday coming up, I decided to challenge myself and try to make it! I looked up a bunch of recipes but the below video was the most descriptive. You definitely need to follow the directions very carefully, especially when folding in the egg whites, but seeing it made step by step gave me more confidence to try!
I must have folded the egg whites in too much because my soufflé didn't really rise but it still tasted very light and airy! So in the end, even if you don't get the best looking soufflé, you can still get the same texture and taste! I will 100% be making this recipe again!
You want to make sure you see peaks in the egg white mixture before you start to fold it into the chocolate mixture.
This was pre-baked. When looking at it now, I probably should have added more so the mixture was all the way to the top.
I didn't have enough time to make homemade whipped cream but any store brand is fine! My husband ate his with ice cream 😋
Enjoy!
