It's taken a while for me to learn to cook but for my 11-year-old nephew, it comes naturally! Actually, all 3 of my sister's kids are great at cooking, baking, and experimenting with new recipes! One of my favorite recipes from them is their homemade ice cream!
I posted about it a few times but I finally have the recipe to share! And the best part is, it's so simple and you can add any ingredients you want to make it any flavor you want! My kids love his cookies & cream! This time, he made it for us with a chocolate flavor base. It was so good!
Here is the recipe with a few suggestions on how to change the flavors.
Base flavor (vanilla):
2 cups of heavy cream
1 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk (chilled)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
For chocolate flavor:
Add 2-3 tbsp. of unsweetened cocoa powder to the vanilla base
Cookies & Cream:
Add 5 Oreos (crushed) to the vanilla base
S'mores:
Use chocolate ice cream version or add chocolate syrup to the vanilla base version
Marshmallow fluff
Crushed graham crackers
For toppings, you can add additional graham crackers, chocolate chips, and more marshmallow fluff (or even mini marshmallows!)
1) Pour heavy cream into a bowl and mix using a whisk until stiff peaks form
2) Fold in the chilled sweetened condensed milk with a spatula and make sure fully mixed together
3) Fold in the vanilla extract and cocoa powder, if you are making the chocolate base
4) Add in any additional ingredients and fold again
5) Pour it into a container or bowl and smooth out with a spatula
6) Top off with any additional toppings you like (i.e. chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, etc.) then cover tightly with plastic wrap
7) Put in freezer for at least 5-7 hours
This is Cookies & Cream with a chocolate base flavor! I love how he topped it off with more cookie crumbs and chocolate syrup!
