Turkey for dessert

By now I hope everyone has their turkey for Thanksgiving! I'm still not comfortable with attempting to cook my first turkey but I will be making the butternut squash soup I shared in an earlier post and roasted brussels sprouts. Since my husband will be in charge of the real turkey I thought a different kind of turkey would be fun to make with the kids. My kids LOVE helping in the kitchen (and they probably have almost as equal experience as I do! 😂) so finding a kid-friendly recipe is always a bonus!

Last year, I found a really cute turkey cupcake recipe and we decided to make them again this year! I'm actually more comfortable with baking, especially if the recipe calls for boxed cake mix, so this recipe is great for anyone. Plus, if you have kids, this is a fun activity to do with them on Thanksgiving. My kids had so much fun making these with me, we might have to make this an annual tradition!

From my family to yours, we hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Turkey Cupcakes

1 box of yellow cake mix (We used Duncan Hines Moist but any brand is fine)

1 16oz. chocolate frosting (We like to use whipped or creamy)

1 12oz. bag of mini pretzels

1 16oz. bag of candy corn

1 12oz. bag of chocolate chips

1) Follow cake mix instructions as is

2) Wait until cupcakes are cool then add frosting

2) Use 2 mini pretzels for the wings, four candy corns for the feathers and another for the beak. Then add chocolate chips for the eyes.

THIS WAS LAST YEAR'S BATCH.

THESE WERE THE CUPCAKES THE KID'S MADE THIS YEAR.
